Mendel is a LATAM-first, enterprise-focused platform that combines payment cards, expense management, and now corporate travel into one seamless solution. We’re not just digitizing processes but transforming how finance teams manage budgets in real-time while meeting the unique tax and regulatory challenges of the region.
Alan, after scaling and exiting Herolens—a B2B SaaS company in the MarTech space—to Innovid, joined forces with Alejandro, who had recently sold Zetech to Visma, a leading provider of HR cloud solutions in Latin America. Both of us came from the B2B SaaS enterprise sales world and had experienced firsthand the inefficiencies enterprises in Latin America faced in managing expenses, payments, and travel.
These companies were navigating fragmented financial systems and complex regulatory environments without tools designed specifically for their needs. Alejandro’s experience scaling enterprise solutions for nearly 1,000 customers across five countries and Alan’s track record of building innovative platforms gave us the conviction to tackle this massive challenge together.
Mendel was founded to bridge these gaps by connecting payments, expense management, and corporate travel into a single, seamless platform. The company’s vision is to empower Latin American enterprises with tools that simplify processes, enhance visibility, and provide actionable insights to help businesses operate more efficiently and grow faster.
Mendel serves some of the largest enterprises in Latin America, including Mercado Libre, FEMSA, and McDonald’s. These companies face high transaction volumes and complex compliance requirements, and Mendel helps them simplify operations, reduce costs, and gain control over their financial processes.
With Mendel’s platform, the finance team transitioned from manual reconciliations to strategic planning, unlocking efficiency and scalability. By integrating payments, expense management, and travel into one intuitive system, Mendel offers its clients unparalleled control and insights, tailored specifically to the complexities of the LATAM market.
One of the biggest surprises has been the overwhelming demand for an all-in-one solution tailored to the LATAM market. While Mendel initially focused on expense management, customer feedback revealed the immense value of integrating travel and payments into the same platform. This insight drove the launch of Mendel’s corporate travel vertical.
Another key learning is the importance of simplicity. LATAM enterprises already face enough complexity in their daily operations, and offering intuitive, user-friendly solutions has been a game-changer for driving adoption and delivering long-term value.
Infinity founders have been invaluable partners, each bringing unique strengths. Mario, who sits on Mendel’s board, has been incredibly supportive—not just focusing on the business but also caring for the team as human beings. He’s a great partner who dives deep into financial details, helping with P&Ls, pricing strategies, and targets. Jay brings a product-first mindset, offering practical insights and ideas to elevate Mendel’s solutions. Jeremy drives the company to push boundaries in sales, helping Mendel outpace competitors and crush market barriers.
Their collective experience as ex-operators during their PayPal tenure has been particularly valuable. They’ve built and sold companies, expanded into new markets, navigated partnerships, hired & fired people and faced the same challenges Mendel is tackling. This well-rounded expertise has been critical to Mendel’s growth.
Mendel’s future is focused on scale and innovation. We are building a category-defining platform for Latin America that integrates payments, expense management, and corporate travel into a single ecosystem. This market remains largely underserved by modern tools, presenting a significant opportunity for growth.
The next frontier includes leveraging AI to make financial management smarter and more automated—offering predictive insights for CFOs, streamlining processes, and further simplifying corporate travel bookings.
With plans to deepen its LATAM footprint and explore expansion into other emerging markets, Mendel is well-positioned to become the go-to platform for enterprise spend management in the region and beyond.
